This creamy chocolate smoothie is the perfect way to start your day and lift your spirits. Cacao is high in magnesium, which aids with relaxation and has a calming effect, and anandamide, which helps elevate moods. The goji berries are high in many B vitamins which reduce anxiety and assist in stress reduction and the avocado is high in healthy mood-boosting fats and feel-good serotonin.

Your recipes sound wonderful but I am curious about calories and protein amounts. I’m unable to work out other than walking so am conscious of nutrition numbers. Would any of the smoothies be sufficient as a breakfast. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Jane,
I don’t post calories as I don’t want to encourage calorie counting because if you eat whole foods, which are filled with vitamins, minerals, fibre and often water, you will have natural appetite control, you will feel satisfied and your body will naturally maintain a healthy weight. Not to mention that calorie counts can be off by as much as 25%. There is a great article here that explains it – http://www.precisionnutrition.com/problem-with-calorie-counting-calories-in. If you did want to know exact calorie or protein counts, you can always enter the ingredients into a free software, like myfitnessspal, which can calculate all of that for you. Any smoothie with nuts, seeds, protein powders in addition to the fruit (which most of mine are with very few exception) will make a great breakfast and keep you full for 3-4 hours after drinking it. Hope that helps 🙂
